Drs. Stephen Dyment, Heidi Kunze, Sam Abawi and Fiona Tam are family and cosmetic dentists at the Firehall Dentist. They welcome adult and children new patients from Waterdown, Burlington, Hamilton, Dundas, Carlisle and Flamborough. They are open evenings and Saturdays and provide family and children’s dentistry including a very strong preventative focus, comprehensive hygiene and periodontal care, bonding, veneers, fillings and restorative work, laser gum treatment, and emergency care. Laughing gas and gentle, caring service are customized to cater to every individual needs. A positive and happy office culture where each patient is valued and respected is the hallmark or our office. We want your visit to be stress-free and enjoyable. MEET
Dr. Stephen Dyment grew up in Ottawa with his parents and two sisters. Both of his parents were raised in Dundas and he has fond memories of milking cows during the summers at his uncle’s dairy farm on Sydenham Road. He attended Mount Allison University prior to enrolling at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. He was actively involved in campus life, writing and directing the annual variety show and winning recognition for outstanding contribution to the extracurricular activities of the faculty. Stephen was awarded scholarships for Paedeatrics and Periodontics. He interned at Toronto General Hospital prior to associating in Guelph then opening the Firehall Dentist in Waterdown.
He is married to Dr. Heidi Kunze and they have one daughter named Sophie who is the greatest blessing in his life. Stephen enjoys playing the piano, gardening, windsurfing, personal development and is interested in fitness and nutrition. He is an eternal optimist and patients of all ages appreciate his genuine, gentle and caring approach to dentistry. People comment on his empathy and the way he makes each person feel valued and respected. His creative eye and natural intuition for esthetics has allowed him to help countless people achieve beautiful, natural and youthful smiles.

Since returning to Ontario in 2008, she has been practicing in the GTA and continues to take part in continuing education courses in restorative and implant dentistry. She joined The Firehall Dentist as an associate in 2016. Fiona has great rapport with her patients of all ages. She has a compassionate and gentle manner and finds it fulfilling to make patients feel comfortable and at ease during their visit.
Fiona loves to bake, read and go for walks or bike rides by the lake with her family. She is a mom of three and enjoys taking them to dance and soccer practices.
MEET
Dr. Wisam (Sam) Abawi obtained his B.D.S. (Bachelor in Dental Surgery) from the University of Baghdad / Faculty of Dentistry in 2000. He practiced Dentistry in his home country (IRAQ) for Six years. In 2006, he moved to Dubai –UAE and stayed there for Seven years practicing general dentistry in a multi-specialty dental office.
Dr. Abawi came to Canada in 2011 as a skilled immigrant for a safe and bright future for his family. In 2013, he settled permanently and within Two years successfully completed the National Dentistry Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) equivalency Dentistry program and obtained his license to practice dentistry in Canada.
Dr. Abawi enjoys all fields of dentistry and keeps his knowledge and skills up-to-date with the most recent materials and techniques to provide the best treatment and dental care for his patients of different ages (Adults & Children).
In his leisure time, spends time with three wonderful kids (girl, boy, girl) and a great wife. At home he enjoys a lot of fun activities with his kids; playing fun games, reading stories, bike rides with his kids, family exploratory adventures of the Trails and woods in the neighborhood, and watching a family movie (movie night) every Friday / Saturday night and of course with a big popcorn bowl.
He also likes bike riding for long distances, gardening, travel, road trips, and BBQ.

Dr. Sam Abawi obtained his Bachelor in Dental Surgery in 2000. He has international experience practicing in Iraq and Dubai before immigrating to Canada with his wife and three beautiful children. He has been with The Firehall dentist since 2017 and is a meticulous clinician and a kind and gentle practitioner.
Dr. Sam enjoys all fields of dentistry and keeps his knowledge and skills up-to-date with the most recent materials and techniques to provide the best treatment and dental care for patients of all ages.
In his leisure time he enjoys playing games, reading stories, bike rides with his kids, time with his extended family and exploring outdoor trails in the neighborhood. He also likes gardening, travel, road trips and preparing a delicious BBQ after church on a Sunday afternoon.

The always smiling and cheerful professional office staff provide the most supportive atmosphere making you feel like family every time you return. Dr. Stephen Dyment ( Steve) and Dr. Heidi Kunze are the kindest most thoughtful and professional dentists you could ever meet. Dr. Heidi Kunze (Heidi ) has the most infectious laugh. Although the office has changed, expanded and been updated many times since my first visit, the wonderful atmosphere has always remained.
